Obituary

Robert Edward "Bob" Tyndall of Easley, South Carolina, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 4, 2020. He was 75 years of age. Beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother and loyal friend to many, he leaves behind a legacy of love, humor and service.

A native of Norfolk, Virginia, Bob graduated from Norview High School in 1962, attended Lee University where he met his beautiful bride, Lynda, and later graduated from Southeastern University with a degree in business. His distinguished career in law enforcement spanned twenty-seven years. During that time, he served as a Special Agent with the FBI and the Office of Inspector General for both HUD and EPA, retiring in 1995.

Bob made a lasting impression on all who knew him. Always the life of the party, whether at work or at home, he was known for his lively humor, passionate defense of truth, abiding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and deep love for his friends and family. An accomplished pianist, organist and composer, Bob enjoyed a lifelong passion for music. He began playing the organ and piano in church at the age of ten and blessed many people over the years with his extraordinary gift. An avid lover of history, he found much pleasure during his retirement volunteering as a tour guide in Historical Williamsburg. He was also an active member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI for over 45 years, serving as the Chapter Chair of the Greenville, SC chapter for two years.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Lynda (née Gosnell); daughter Christion and her husband Jim Murphy of Alpharetta, Georgia and grandchildren Robert Coleman Murphy and William James Murphy. He is also survived by his sisters Brenda Zielke (Howard) of Rockwall, Texas; Andrea Norris (Kevin) of Oak Hill, Virginia; and sister-in-law Phyllis Sustar (David) of Anderson, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Irwin and Violet Jones Tyndall of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Bob was determined to be found at his post, fighting for justice until the Lord called him home. His family will miss his larger than life presence, his beautiful music, entertaining stories, warm hugs and wonderful humor. He leaves a void that can never be filled, but they rejoice knowing he is in the presence of Jesus. The family would also like to thank the healthcare professionals who so faithfully and compassionately cared for Bob over the last year, especially Elaine, Marina, Teena and the Interim Hospice nurses.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 10, 2020, at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, Powdersville Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Former Agents of the FBI Foundation at socxfbi.org.
